An iPhone 12 came in looking pretty rough after a serious drop. During inspection under the microscope it became clear what had happened: the power management IC — the chip responsible for power distribution across the logicboard — had been completely shattered by the impact.
The fix: carefully remove the damaged chip and solder a new one. After the repair the device powered up immediately and all data was fully intact. Photos, contacts, files — everything could be transferred to the customer's new device.
Sometimes the damage runs deeper than it looks, but there's still a way out.
Device stopped working after a drop? We always look at what's possible — no fix, no charge.
