Failed repair or data recovery elsewhere? We'll take another look
Has your device already been to another repair shop or data recovery lab without result? Did you get it back in parts, or with chips missing? You're not the only one. A large share of our data recovery jobs come in after an earlier attempt elsewhere has failed.
What we often see
-
Logic boards returned without the CPU, NAND or EEPROM chip
-
Devices taken apart and returned in pieces
-
Lifted pads, damaged traces or burnt components after earlier soldering attempts
-
MacBook boards where another technician has already replaced chips. On newer MacBook Pros many chips are serialised and tied to their exact position on the board. When they are swapped at random by someone who doesn’t know this, we have to transfer all chips one-to-one from a donor board. That usually makes the repair about twice as expensive.
-
Volvo VCM modules with a connector already worked on by another technician
What we do
We work at component level, using a microscope and a thermal camera. We repair damaged pads and traces, refit or replace components, and move chips to a donor board when needed. The goal is to get your data back, even when the device itself can't be saved.
Before you come in
-
Bring the device in person. We open it in front of you, so it's clear to everyone what state it arrived in. Can't come in, for example because you live abroad or far away? Register your device at nodefix.nl/apparaat-opsturen and only ship it once we've confirmed. We then record the opening and inspection in full on video.
-
Tell us exactly what was done before. If software recovery or read-out attempts have already been made, or you don't know what was done, we won't take on the data recovery, because the risk is too high that the data has already been permanently overwritten.
-
Cost. A device that has already been worked on takes more work than one that was never opened. The price is therefore higher than for a standard case. You'll get the price after inspection, before we start.
