Macbook Pro 15'' A1990 T2 ( 820-01041) Data Recovery Logicboard Reparatie
This MacBook Pro 15" A1990 with T2 chip (logic board 820-01041) came to us for data recovery. The customer had spilled coffee on the keyboard, and a few minutes later the laptop shut down completely. He left it to dry for several days, but it still wouldn’t boot. His request was clear: repair it and keep the data, and if the repair would cost much more than data recovery, recover the data only. On inspection we found liquid damage at several points on the logic board. The oxidation had badly damaged the CPU vcore supply, and one of the power stages on the vcore rail was completely shorted. The part was an Infineon (IR) IRF3575D, marked “IR C F3575”. It is a 60A exposed-top Integrated Power Block: a single-phase synchronous buck converter with the control and sync MOSFETs in one PQFN 6×6 mm package (dual die, 25 V BVDSS, RDS(on) Q2 0.90 mΩ at 10 V). We first replaced this IR MOSFET and confirmed the CPU was still healthy. On a T2 machine that step is critical, because the data is tied to this specific logic board. We then replaced every micro component on the other side of the board that had been damaged by the liquid. In the end the MacBook booted again, and we recovered all the data with a full Time Machine backup.
