MacBook Pro 16" M1 (A2485) – Data recovery from a dead logic board

This MacBook Pro 16" with M1 chip (model A2485) came in for data recovery. The device showed no signs of life: no display, no sound, no response to the power button and no magsafe light. Completely dead.

For data recovery on Apple Silicon MacBooks, logic board repair is often the only way, because the SSD chips are tied directly to the processor and can't be read out separately. The data is encrypted and stored on the board itself.

After disassembly, I inspected the logic board under the microscope. By taking measurements on the suspect rails and comparing the readings to a donor board of the same type, one component clearly deviated from the reference. I replaced this part 1-for-1 with the identical component from the donor board.

After the repair the MacBook booted up normally, with all original data intact. Happy customer, data safe.

Cheaper, faster and safer than manufacture service.

Apple doesn't offer board-level repair: if the logic board is faulty, the entire board gets replaced and your data is gone. At Nodefix I fix it at component level. That means your data stays intact, the repair is significantly cheaper than a new board through Apple, and usually the turnaround is faster too. Your laptop never leaves the shop and your data stays in your own hands – no third parties, no cloud uploads, no risk of data leaks.

Got a MacBook that won't boot and need your data back? Contact Nodefix for board-level diagnosis and data recovery.
